Applications of Films and Film Packaging by Krus

Frozen Foods

The flexible, fast-paced lifestyle and increased per capita income contribute to the increasing demand for frozen foods. This good news for the market requires optimal packaging solutions. The goods must be protected not only from external factors, such as dust and dirt but also from damage caused by frost and liquids.

Krus has been working with companies in the food industry/frozen foods sector for many years and can provide you with the appropriate packaging as well as films for packaging machines. These are usually made of LD polyethylene (LDPE), the advantages of which we will discuss in more detail below. It is crucial for the material to be able to withstand the cold for a long period of time without being damaged.

Baked Goods, Fruit, and Vegetables

Like with frozen food, it is essential to use appropriate packaging in order to maintain hygienic standards and ensure the freshness of your baked goods, fruit, and vegetables. LDPE is, again, an efficient option.

Other plastics in our offer, such as MDPE, CPP, and BOPP, are also available and may be appropriate for your specific needs. These materials help keep your products crisp, fresh, and free from external contaminants like dirt and dust.

You can also use additives like UV stabilisers to protect your products from fading when exposed to sunlight. At Krus, we offer films on rolls that can be used with packaging machines, as well as finished packaging in various shapes, such as bags.

We would be happy to assist you in finding the best option for your products.

Loose and Dry Products (Noodles, Rice, Candy, etc.)

Krus offers films for packaging loose and dry products such as pasta, rice, and sweets. These films are designed to protect your products and keep them fresh.

While Krus does not produce string bags directly, we provide the necessary materials on rolls for our customers to use in their own packaging machines. For example, we offer films to produce string bags made from LDPE and MDPE.

Food Foils and Packaging in Details

Foil Film Rolls

Krus processes LDPE (LD polyethylene) into the following variants:

  • film for packaging machines,
  • film for bread and baked goods,
  • film for frozen goods,
  • film for laminating,
  • flow pack and doypack-ready films.

Krus also manufactures MDPE (medium-density polyethylene) film on rolls. This type of film has a matte finish and is known for its durability and slight crinkling effect. It is a versatile plastic that is widely used in a variety of applications due to its strength and ability to last.

Bags Made of Other Materials

Besides LDPE and MDPE, Krus processes the following plastics into bags and films:

CPP (cast polypropylene) is a type of plastic belonging to the polyolefins group – polymers made from alkenes, which are different from polyethylene (PE). CPP is known for its transparency, stiffness, and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for various applications.

It is often used for packaging food and consumer products due to its ability to protect the contents while still providing a clear view. It is also used in other industries, such as textiles, construction, and automotive.

BOPP (biaxially-oriented polypropylene) is a type of plastic film produced by stretching polypropylene in both the longitudinal and transverse directions. This process increases the stiffness and stability of the material.

BOPP film is commonly used for packaging applications due to its strength, clarity, and durability. It is also resistant to moisture, grease, and some chemicals, making it a suitable choice for a wide range of products.

In addition to producing wicket bags made of LDPE, CPP, and BOPP, Krus also offers a range of film solutions, including bags with a bottom weld and bags with a bottom or side weld. These bags can be customised to meet your specific requirements. Please let us know if you have any further questions or want to learn more about the options available.

FAQ

Generally, we accommodate the ordering needs and preferences of our customers.

However, there are some products for which we do have a minimum order quantity requirement. The minimum order quantity for these products may vary, so we recommend consulting with us individually for more information.

The materials we use are food-safe and approved for use in food packaging, so you can be confident that your customers’ health will not be compromised.

We also strive to minimise the environmental impact of our packaging materials through responsible production practices.

During the production process, we have the ability to add four types of additives to the plastic granulate for most of our products:

  • Antiblocks – to prevent blocking or sticking between individual packages,
  • Antifog – to inhibit condensation and fogging on the packages,
  • UV stabiliser – to protect the goods and packaging from UV radiation and discolouration,
  • Antistatic – to prevent the electrostatic charging of packaging and goods.

Yes, our entire product range can be printed with custom designs.

Our flexographic printing process enables us to apply any design you desire to your future packaging and films. On top of that, our films can be fully coloured during production in one of eight high-quality Pantone® tones.
