Wicket Bags in Practice

Wicket bags, also known as pin stack bags, are designed for efficient filling and emptying by machine. This makes them a popular choice for a variety of industries, including food, hygiene, and electronics.

If you’re not already using wicket bags in your production process, it’s worth considering whether they could optimise your current packaging.

Krus has an extensive experience with wicket bags, and we would be happy to advise you on their use. Whether you’re packing bread and baked goods, fruit and vegetables, or electronic parts, wicket bags offer reliable protection from external factors.

Wicket Bag Production Process

Krus produces wicket bags from four different materials, each of which has its own advantages due to their different properties. We always advise our customers personally and professionally when selecting the most suitable material.

LDPE, or low-density polyethylene, is known for its puncture-resistant and slip properties. It is also softer than other commonly used plastics, which allows for good material shaping. It is classified as food-safe and not harmful to health. On top of that, its high stretchability and good impact resistance in cold temperatures complement the other characteristics of this plastic.

In order to offer our customers high-quality products, Krus has developed its unique proprietary recipe for LDPE, which has satisfied our customers’ needs for many years.

MDPE, or medium-density polyethylene, is a type of plastic that sits between low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in terms of stiffness and durability. It is characterised by its matte surface and slightly crinkled texture, making it a tough and versatile material.

HDPE, or high-density polyethylene, is a type of plastic known for its high density, excellent sliding properties, and low-temperature impact resistance. It is also resistant to fats and chemicals, making it a popular choice for various applications.

CPP, or cast polypropylene, is a plastic film known for its high temperature resistance. It can withstand temperatures between 0–150 °C, making it an ideal choice for applications that require heat resistance. When sealed, CPP can maintain its properties up to 180 °C.

CPP is also resistant to shrinkage and damage during sterilisation, making it a popular choice for medical and food packaging.

Design and Colouring of Wicket Bags for Packaging Machines

At Krus, we use flexographic printing to apply virtually any design to your bags.

You can choose from eight high-quality Pantone® colours for your prints. On top of that, you can fully dye your bags with one of the eight colours as well.

Our team of experts would be happy to work with you to determine the best design and colouring options for your specific needs and requirements.

We produce wicket bags for packaging machines with a minimum order quantity of 50,000 bags per order.

Yes, our flexographic printing allows us to apply any design on our bags – from product descriptions and application instructions to logos and fully-fledged package designs. This is always done in-house without third-party printing services, which means no associated delays in delivery.

Yes, we produce wicket bags in various options, with the most common finishes being:

  • Perforated
  • Needled
  • Punched
  • Knurled

As each option comes with its own advantages, we would be happy to discuss in more detail which one is the best fit for your application.

In the last 30 years, our company has specialised in producing films of all colours. As a matter of principle, we do not manufacture products made of paper or cardboard. In addition, it must be considered that plastic is significantly more stable than paper bags, which is a mandatory requirement for machine filling.

Yes, CPP film, in particular, is very well suited for packaging medical devices, as it does not deform or melt during sterilisation.

Yes, since our wicket bags are made from LDPE, MDPE, and other recyclable materials, they can be disposed of in the regular household waste.

After proper processing and recycling, they can be used again for making other products.
