Side Gusset Bags

banner

Side gusset bags are so called due to the gussets present on both sides of the pouch. They offer greater volume than simple flat bags thanks to the pleats incorporated into the sides. These products have a wide variety of uses, often serving as packaging for food products such as baked goods or gummy bears.

Side gusset bags are commonly used when the product is greased or oiled, i.e. mechanical components such as gears. Such pouches can also be stored efficiently due to their pleats – the bag does not unfold until the actual packaging process.

Side gusset bags from Krus offer you numerous options for affordable and efficient packaging of your products. Choose high-quality side gusset bags from Krus and experience their benefits for yourself!

Side Gusset Bag Materials

At Krus we offer our customers side gusset bags in various material blends. There are 8 different materials you can choose from at Krus, including:

  • LDPE (Low-density Polyethylene)
  • COEX (Coextruded Film)
  • MDPE (Medium-density Polyethylene)
  • Regranulate
  • PP (Polypropylene)
  • CPP (Cast Polypropylene)
  • Laminate
  • OPP (Oriented Polypropylene)

LDPE Side Gusset Bags

Side gusset bags made of LDPE (Low-density Polyethylene) are the most common, as the production of these bags is inexpensive and suitable for a wide range of applications. LDPE side gusset bags are very often transparent and can be recycled.

COEX Side Gusset Bags

COEX side gusset bags have a distinguishing feature – they consist of multiple layers of material joined together in an extruder. The material layers are mixed depending on the final use. A well-known example of a side gusset bag made of COEX can be found in the garden sections of a hardware store: plant soil. A black film inside protects the contents from UV radiation, while product information is printed on the outside layer.

MDPE Side Gusset Bags

Side gusset bags made of MDPE (Medium-density polyethylene) are a middle ground between the HDPE (High-density Polyethylene) and LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) films. MDPE has a longer shelf life than HDPE and is more usable (e.g., tactile and cuttable) than LDPE.

Regranulate Side Gusset Bags

Regranulate refers to a raw material made from recycled plastic. Different granules can be mixed together based on color and property requirements. The mechanical and thermal characteristics of side gusset bags made of regranulate are comparable to those created from new raw materials.

Side Gusset Bag Additives

At Krus, you have a choice of various additives for your side gusset bag order. When mixed in, they can improve certain properties of the pouches. You can choose from the following additives:

  • Antistatic (bags are protected from electrostatic discharge)
  • UV stabilizer (bag contents are protected from UV radiation)
  • Antiblock (individual bags are less likely to stick to each other)
  • Antifog (the risk of condensation appearing in the bag is minimized)

FAQ

The dimensions of your product determine the size of the side gusset bag. A few millimeters should be added to the bag size after the calculation to ensure that the goods can be packed without any problems. We will be happy to calculate the bag size for you if you encounter any problems. Feel free to call us during our business hours for more information.

Here at Krus, you can choose from a selection of 8 different colors for your packaging needs. Most side gusset bags remain transparent (e.g., bags for bakery products). On the other hand, for electronic products, the color of the side gusset pouch is pink – with an ESD symbol. This indicates that the contents are protected from electrostatic discharge.

Even if you are a smaller company that doesn’t have the necessary warehousing capabilities, you can still order from Krus. We will gladly take care of the storage and picking of the side gusset bags for you. Make sure to contact us if you are interested in such services.

The design of the side gusset bag has an impact on the surface quality of the pouch. Krus offers you several design options, such as:

  • Knurled
  • Punched
  • Needled
  • Perforated

Yes, side gusset bags can be reused up to a certain level depending on the material type.

Side gusset bags can be recycled to some extent – depending on the material composition, it can be more difficult to separate the individual plastics.

If several plastic films are not glued together, side gusset bags can be disposed of in the yellow garbage cans or in the yellow bags. Once the waste is separated, the bags can be used as a base material for the creation of other types of film.

The Pantone color system is an internationally recognized system for coding colors. It was developed by the American company Pantone LLC and is considered a standard in the printing and design industry.
